Yeah, Im surprised more people don't use them, as cheap and easy as they are. Mine works perfectly too, hasn't lost siphon yet. I debated using teeth, but I think it skims the surface enough as is. And we should totally start a mantis fanclub. Mine's living in the skimmer pump.

And we should totally start a mantis fanclub i think thats a very good idea. we could petition Andy to get its own topic area, but it seems the invertebrates covers it most the time. but a fan club would be awesome, esp. to the little misunderstood mantis shrimp.

No ID (hehe, punny) yet. Definitely a basher, though. And yes, you may be High Lord Chancelor :P

you should check out roy's list to identify it http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/arthropoda ... index.html
are you at all worried about the fish taking a ride down your overflow? i put teeth on mine to keep out snails and fish.

It's already happened; check out the Achillope thread. I've since added a small square of eggcrate.

Ok, it's opinion time again. I've added a few more zoanthids, and some frogspawn... Everyone's happy... Nitrates are around 5 ppm...I'm using Purigen, Poly-filter and a denitration media. Probably overkill, but it's working. That said, would you all call me crazy if I considered a pair of dwarf horses for the fuge? Flow rate is pretty gentle, and the mantis is now rehomed (still got 1 in another tank though... can't live w/o a mantis :D ). Hatching the brine wouldn't really be a problem, and there are plenty of pods in there... I think the system can take it bio-load wise. Opinions? Sanity checks?
