I'd say about 4 gallons, although I could run it higher.

I have never kept dwarf ponies so can't say from experience. It seems like a good setup; if it is cool enough

Usually runs about 80, but I could turn it down to 78 or so.

I have been reading your 20g nano. Why couldn't i do this with my 20g. I already have the royal gramma. Get a 55 gal for stewie. :)

I guess there's no reason why you couldn't, but I kind of thought you were looking at upgrading to the 55, then at some point I know we recommended focusing on the 20. The major differences between your tank and this one (Will's) is that he's running a sump and a refugium (he used his Aquaclear 70 filter and retrofitted it to become a refugium), plus he's upgraded his lighting to allow him to keep corals.

This is a good thread for you to read I think, and you can definitely see how to start out very basic and then gradually add corals and such, though I wouldn't do that until your 20 has been stable for awhile. If you also want to get a 55 for Stewie, you'd be looking at setting up two tanks, so that means two skimmers, more sand, more rock, etc. Once you know what you want to do, let us know and we'll help you out.

Sorry, Will, I don't want to hijack your thread by any means!

No worries, Lyvea. And I'm actually using the middle section of the sump as a fuge nowadays. The AC might see life again on a dwarf puffer tank.

This 20 is actually flourishing. All the fish are fat and happy, I've found a few cool HHs, my zos are spreading like wildfire, and the tank is just looking stable. How much of that is my new, top-secret skimmer design? Subjectively, I'd say quite a bit. Also, I'm planning on the next additions to be a brittle star, possibly a crinoid, some euphyllia, and maybe a peppermint. May also try my hand at growing out clams if I can find a cheap MH pendant.
