Can you provide the link? Please ;) I have the same question about how to mix it.

I've now got Aptasia popping up every where. I lost a peppermint shrimp this summer (don't know why) and I think it was helping keep them in check. I'd say my oppinion of the Aptasia X is changing from my initial assessment. It's not working very well at all now. I put 3 more shrimp in there a week ago, I hope they start munching soon. I have probably 50-100 tiny little Aptasia starting to pop up in the tank and several in the sump. I need to get on top of this soon. The tank has been up since April of 08. I can't beleive they are just now starting to infest the tank. These Aptasia seem to be laughing at the Aptasia X.

heres a couple, i didnt nuke mine and it still worked well. i made it thick. using a few drops of ro/di water. but after thinking about it, a hot nasty injection would seem better suited. aiptasia are pests, true enough, but they are also invertebrates so any sudden change in bot temperature and alkalinity would be a finishing blow. hope this helps.

I decided to take an empty Aptasia X bottle and mix up some "paste". I used a small amount of RO water and a heavy amount of Kalk such that I had a milk shake type liquid. I used the application syringe from the Aptasia X kit to apply the kalk. With the mix of stuff in my tank I only applied two full syringes (about 10ml). I did this on Saturday and I did notice a reaction a few days later from my Blastomussa. It didn't fully extend during the day. It seems to be comming out of it now. Nothing else seemed to mind, even the Rose BTA. I guess I'll just have to use only 5 ml next time. I never measured the pH after the application to see if it spiked up...I'm sure it went up...but don't know how much. The fish never acted stressed over it.

The question I have is do you inject this suff with a needle, or do you just coat the mouth of the Aptasia? The applicator I have works well with the thicker liquid, but it isn't a "sharp" needle. The opening is much larger than a needle and you can't really "inject" it into the tissue of the pest.

The good news for now is that it appears to have killed a few that I hit with it. I don't see them comming back yet. I need to hit the sump next. Was thinking about draining the sump and pumping the sump (skimmer and return sections) full of RO/DI water and letting it sit for 10 minutes and then draining it. I wonder if that would erradicate them quicker than the kalk paste. I'll have to use kalk in refugium section though.

Any thoughts?

i dont inject the aiptasia, i simply coat its mouth and it eats it. yes ive noticed my monties hate it if some sprays on it. i would suggest treating that sump on alternate days to stop the plague from spreading.

So what's the final verdict? I just noticed either some aptasia or majano on a small zo rock, and I'd rather not sacrifice the entire frag.

i say use the needle and put some on the anemones around the frag w/o hitting the coral itself. if need be, use a dropper to swoosh the paste of the frag.

Do you think filling the sump with low pH RO/DI water would kill them or do they have to be in fresh water longer than 10 min. or so to do the job?
